Brief:
Deakin's Group was engaged to refurbish the Mardale Reception area at a local college, transforming an outdated space into a modern and functional environment. The project was essential for enhancing the college’s operational efficiency and creating a welcoming atmosphere for staff, students, and visitors.
We worked closely with the college throughout the pre-construction phase, conducting detailed site surveys and collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure the project plan met both aesthetic and operational requirements. The scope of work involved the demolition of partitions and structural walls, modifications to fire panel locations, and upgrades to lighting, air conditioning, and security systems, all while minimising disruption to daily activities.
Scope of Work:
Demolition & Structural Changes: Removal of partition and structural walls to open up the space, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with regulations.
Flooring: Uplifting of old floor coverings and installation of new Polyflor Commercial Products for durability and aesthetic appeal.
Heating & Air Conditioning: Installation of modern flat panel radiators and a new air conditioning system to provide energy-efficient climate control.
Lighting & Security: Upgrade of lighting with modern LED battens, emergency lighting to meet regulations, and installation of five access-controlled speed gates to enhance security.
Decoration: Full redecoration to provide a fresh, modern finish that aligned with the new design vision.
Project Management:
Our project management team ensured all phases of the refurbishment were executed smoothly. A dedicated project manager oversaw the process, ensuring timely delivery and coordination between trades.
Regular site meetings were held to address challenges and maintain the project schedule. Stringent health and safety protocols were followed, and quality control measures were implemented at every stage of the project.
Handover:
Upon completion, a thorough inspection was carried out to ensure all work met the college’s expectations and regulatory standards.
A handover package was provided, including as-built drawings, operational manuals, and maintenance guidelines. The project was delivered on time and within budget, with minimal disruption to the college’s daily operations.
The college was highly satisfied with the transformation of the Mardale Reception area, appreciating the improved lighting, enhanced security, and energy efficiency.
